What is it?
Everything basically started with Workless by iKreativ. es:CSS is NOT just another clone of Workless. es:CSS is built from scratch, based on Workless' principles and concepts, spiced up with some new techniques and flavoured with own experiences. es:CSS started out as a mashup of all the great things I liked about Twitter Bootstrap and all the other boilerplates / frameworks. The more I worked with them, the more I added or stripped in order to make my life easier when working on any project.
Now it's pretty much turned into a framework in it's own way, with all the stuff you need and none of the stuff you don't. It's about saving your time and keeping your projects slim.

What does it do?
Standardizes CSS, improves usability and interaction, sets base typography to help vertical rhythm and readability and adds helper classes to style elements easily.
It can also combine and compress (requires PHP) CSS if you want it to!
It will style your form elements too and make them cross-browser compatible.

People who build websites on a daily basis and get tired of writing the same code over and over for each project.
Start each project with Workless and save time by having all the defaults ready to go!
How do I use it?
Either start with the base setup, or drop the files and assets into your current project and simply reference the CSS and Javascript files in your source.
Once you've done this you can start adding your own application specific CSS.
Nothing is essentially required, everything is optional. Take what you want, drop what's not.
Where is it from?
es:CSS is built by somebody who knows about the daily pains while building websites / -apps. Somebody who worked very close with other developers for years, somebody who's frustrated by all the other way too heavy and complex frameworks.
And it comes with the well-known label "Made in Germany".
es:CSS was developed in the Berlin area - todays one of the most innovative areas in the world.
